  • What are your thoughts on this party?

    Feb 26th

Do you think these activities will work for a St. Patrick’s day celebration?

    1. I prepared vanilla cupcakes in St. Patrick’s Day holders. The kids get to put green frosting on the cupcakes and decorate them with them. Then the younger kids are going to help me with the shamrock cookies and the older kids get to make a Pot Of Gold jell-o.

    2. Then we are making team shirts and hats. Since the older kids aren’t going to want to, we are letting them just make a hat for each kid (they just need to put a sponge shamrock on the top). The younger kids and decorate the shirt any way they like, using green and gold.

    3. We go upstairs were going to play a relay game. I bought red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple streamers and am going to hang them to symbolize a rainbow. The kids will be broken into 2 lines and wait at one end of the rainbow. There will be a pot of gold and they will have to carry it to the other side of the rainbow and back. If they drop any gold, they have to….
pick and up and start their turn over.

    4. To end it, there will be a leperchan hunt. I will put a trail of leperchan feet and
they will have a bunch of clues. Since it is going to be outside though the
neighborhood, which is why we made the shirts and hats.

Were also going to have corn beef and cabbage for dinner with some soda bread. I think I’m going to let my boys help me make dinner so they can learn a little about their culture because they are Irish.
No, actually I wanted to know if
    a. Parents have anything to add
    b. Parents think the older kids will like it.
    c. Parents think younger kids will enjoy it too.
    d. Parents have other ideas from anything!
I hope they do too! It is the first time we are going to do something like this!
Honest Mommy – I love that idea! I think it is so cute and I could give little prizes for every 4-leaf clover found! Very, very cute idea. I actually have a little spot way in the back of the yard with a ton of clovers so that would be the place to do it in.

Sounds like fun! The kids will love that. I wish I had the time and energy to plan a neat get together like that πŸ™‚ The Leprechaun hunt sounds fun as well.

My husband and I are going to make a traditional Irish dinner and dessert to celebrate. He’s part Irish so this is one of his favorite holidays!

What about having a four leaf clover hunt? Maybe you could buy a patch of clovers or find a clover patch nearby and have hunt for a four leaf clover. Also how about for the smaller kids, pin the leaf on the clover!

    8. Sorry this sounds pointless & tedious like one of those recreational games at a colorado summer camp…not the kind of thing I would have enjoined as a child.
I’d prefer to go to the st patty’s day parade or park festival as I did in the freezing cold in Belfast as a child it was great though!!
