  • What are some Irish recipes you think would be good to take to work on St. Patrick’s Day?

    Jan 26th

I need to bring a dish in to work on St. Patrick’s Day, but I do not want to make a cake with a green frosting. I would like to make something that is more Irish.

You can make Irish potatoes. They are delicious they are mainly from Philly, PA. Hope you enjoy.

    st.patrick’s day door ideas?

    Jan 26th

I work at a daycare in a pre-k class. I need to decorate my door for march/st.Patrick’s day…any ideas?
and an idea for a saying or something on it?? Thanks!

Pot of gold: Use your children’s individual yearbook pictures and place each one on a gold paper coin cutout and add them into your large pot cutout! Maybe add a half rainbow to it! Most kids love to see their pictures on the schoolroom door! Its a good way to represent them!

(Alternative: Apply their pics on 4 leave clover cutouts)

Title ideas:"Lucky us!" "We’ve Got the Gold" "Pot O’Gold"

What do you think would be the best St. Patrick’s day theme for a pub crawl?

    Jan 22nd

    Hey,

So my Business Club for the University I attend in BC hosts a pub crawl every year, we go to at least 9 pubs throughout the night so my problem is this is the first time doing a pub crawl in March for a St. Patrick’s day theme.

Just wondering if there is any activity we can do while on this. Some other club did the Rubik cube, (where they had to wear every colour on the Rubik cube and switch clothes throughout the night to end up with one solid colour at the end) also last year we did a graffiti pub crawl where everyone wears white shirts and you draw on people with markers.

So yea if you have any ideas that would be very helpful for St. Patrick’s Day.. Thanks!

keep in mind that this is for at least 100 university students and they don’t do religious things. Pub crawls are what interests us and we need a St. Patty’s day theme while on this pub crawl. – an Activity

Try this: LEAVE THE DRIVING TO US!
In other words, you’re promoting safety.

    Theme Color:
Green Tie – Take the Time to Enter Twine
In other words, come mingle with friends.

    Game to Play:
Fill out job applications for Leprechauns…have the funniest, most serious, most educated…etc

    Have Fun! //~_~\\

Anyone have any good recipes for St. Patrick’s Day?

    Jan 22nd

I really need some – I can give it to someone who actually knows how to cook, not me (Mr. Microwave)!

I’m intrigued by the idea of cooking with alcohol, or whiskey cakes.

    Thanks!!!

    Steak and Guiness Pie

    500 g beef
    1/2 cup plain flour
    1 cup onions
    1 carrot
    150 g mushrooms
    2 teaspoons sage
    150 ml Guinness stout
    250 ml beef stock
    1 sheet puff pastry
    2 tablespoons oil
    salt and pepper
    milk

HEAT oil in frying pan and cook chopped carrot, diced onion, sliced mushroom, sliced celery, sage until soft;.
    Transfer to casserole dish.
Cut beef into 1 – 2 inch pieces.
COAT beef in flour and add to fry pan; add extra oil if needed; BROWN.
    ADD to casserole dish.
COMBINE beef stock and guinness; add to casserole dish; salt and pepper to taste.
Cover and bake for 2 hours on 150 degrees; stir occasionally.
TRANSFER cooked meat and vegetables to either 1 pie dish or individual ramekin dishes; TOP with puff pastry; brush with egg wash or milk.
Piece puff pastry with fork and cook for approximately 25 minutes until golden.
    Enjoy!

    Irish Soda Bread

    3 1/2 cups flour
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 pint sour cream
    2 eggs
2 tablespoons caraway seeds (optional but I always use them)
    3/4 cup raisins

Combine dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
In a small bowl beat eggs and stir in sour cream.
Add the egg and sour cream mixture to the dry ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon.
    Batter will be very thick.
Add the raisins and caraway seeds and stir well with wooden spoon or knead in with your hands.
Place batter in a greased 9 inch springform pan.
Dust the top with enough flour so that you can pat the batter like a bread dough evenly in the pan without it sticking to your hands.
With a knife make a shallow crisscross on the top.
Bake for 50 minutes in a preheated 350ΒΊF oven.

    Whiskey Sausage

    5 lbs kielbasa
    2 cups ketchup
    2 cups brown sugar
    1 cup whiskey
    1 teaspoon cinnamon

mix ketchup, brown sugar, whiskey, and cinnamon.
cut sausage into 1-2" lengths, then diagonal cut the lengths.
layer sausage, sauce, sausage, sauce, etc.
in a crock pot, and cook on low overnight (appx: 8-10 hrs).

    Happy eating

Does anyone have any cute pictures to decorate a bulletin board for St. Patricks’s Day?

    Jan 22nd

I work in an office and it’s my job to decorate the bulletin board. I need to take the Valentine’s Day stuff down and decorate for St. Patricks Day. When I needed to decorate for Valentine’s Day, someone here gave me a site with some really cute cut-outs, and it turned out great! I want to keep it cute and fun. Any ideas? πŸ™‚

You could go to a School Stuff store and purchase things. They should have holiday decorations.
